I made berry trifle for dessert using what I had in the fridge. I had a two slices of stale banana bread which I toasted and crumbled. I also had plain yogurt and frozen berries that I picked this summer (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries). The raspberries defrosted a little and produced some juice, which I poured on top. I also used two kiwis.
This is so easy to make. You take wine glasses (or jars, or any other see-through containers) and layer all your ingredients carefully inside each one. One of your layers is crumbs or chunks of cake, or even pieces of leftover bread (or in my case, banana bread), which you can moisten with liqueur or juice if they feel dry. Another layer is cream or custard or yogurt. I used plain yogurt with vanilla extract and brown sugar. A third layer is fruit, either frozen or fresh or a combination. You could also use jam, nuts, chocolate. I added a splash of cherry liqueur to the crumbled banana bread and I grated some bittersweet chocolate on top.
